Privacy policy

This policy covers the Table to Excel and Image to Text extensions for Chrome and the website tidykit.app, all made by TidyKit ("we"). Your tables, screenshots and recognized text are processed in your browser. The website uses aggregate counters to measure visits and links to the Chrome Web Store, without cookies or visitor identifiers.
Table to Excel extension
- The extension reads a web page only after you click its icon or choose Show tables on this page in the right-click menu. It then reads the tables on that page to show them and to copy or export them.
- All table processing happens in your browser. The extension doesn't send page content or tables to us or to anyone else.
- The extension keeps a count of successful copies and exports and whether you closed the request to rate it. The count is stored in Chrome's extension storage on your computer and never leaves it. After five successful copies or exports, the extension window shows a one-line request to rate it, no more than three times.
- Starting with version 1.1, the preparation screen keeps its working table in memory while the screen is open. If you choose Save recipe, the extension stores the name you provide, the website origin, the table location, column headers and your export settings. If you choose Save snapshot, it stores the name, website origin, save date and prepared cell values, including link addresses if you selected them. These items are stored in Chrome's local extension storage, are not synced through a TidyKit service and are not sent to us.
- You can remove saved items under Recipes & snapshots, then Manage all saved items. Saved items remain until you remove them or uninstall the extension. The library is limited to 30 recipes, 20 snapshots and 4 MB. Closing the preparation screen discards unsaved table data. Downloaded files and clipboard contents remain under your control.
- If you start Collect more, the extension scrolls the selected table or clicks the pagination button you select on the source website. This can cause that website to load additional pages or rows through its own services. The extension does not send those rows to TidyKit. You can pause or stop collection.
- When you press Copy, the table is placed on your clipboard. When you press CSV or XLSX, your browser saves the file the same way as any other download.
- Permissions: activeTab and scripting temporarily let the extension read and interact with the tab where you activate it, including accessible frames and same-origin pages during collection. contextMenus adds the menu item. storage keeps the rating counter and explicitly saved recipes and snapshots. The extension does not request access to browsing history, account credentials or all websites.
- After installation, the extension opens the page tidykit.app/table-to-excel/welcome/ once, with tips on how to use it. When you remove the extension, Chrome opens the page tidykit.app/table-to-excel/uninstall/. Its address contains the extension version number and nothing else. These page requests contribute to the website counters described below.
Image to Text extension
- The extension reads the screen only after you press its keyboard shortcut, click Capture text on this page in its window, or choose one of its items in the right-click menu. It then takes a picture of the visible part of that tab to show it on screen and read the text in the area you select.
- Text is recognized in your browser. Screenshots, images, files you open in its window and recognized text are not sent to us or to anyone else. PDF files are also read on your computer.
- History: the extension keeps your last 50 results in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. Each entry holds the recognized text, the time, and the website domain or file name. Pictures are not stored. You can delete entries, clear the history or turn it off in the extension's files window. Uninstalling the extension removes the history.
- The extension also stores on your computer your settings, the languages you chose and a count of successful copies. After five successful copies, the extension window shows a one-line request to rate it, no more than three times.
- Languages: English is part of the extension. When you add another language, the extension downloads that language's data file from tidykit.app once and keeps it in the extension's storage on your computer. The request asks only for the file; it carries no text, images or account data. Each file is checked against a checksum built into the extension.
- When text is recognized, the extension places it on your clipboard. CSV, XLSX and .txt files are saved by your browser the same way as any other download.
- Permissions: activeTab and scripting let the extension capture and read the tab where you use it, only after your action. offscreen runs text recognition and clipboard access in a hidden extension page. contextMenus adds the right-click items. storage keeps history and settings on your computer. The extension does not request access to all websites or to your browsing history.
- After installation, the extension opens the page tidykit.app/image-to-text/welcome/ once. When you remove it, Chrome opens tidykit.app/image-to-text/uninstall/ with the extension version in the address and nothing else.
Limited use
Table to Excel uses page content and website addresses only for its table preview, preparation, export, collection and local recipes and snapshots. Image to Text uses screenshots, files and recognized text only to show and copy the text you asked for and to keep your local history. We do not sell these data or use them for advertising. Page content, tables, screenshots and recognized text are not sent to TidyKit. Our use of data accessed by the extensions follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Uninstall survey
- If you answer the question on an uninstall page, we store which extension it was, the reason you chose, your comment if you wrote one, the extension version, the date and the country your request came from. Cloudflare determines the country from your IP address. We don't store the IP address.
- Answers are not linked to your identity. Please don't put personal information in the comment.
- We use the answers to decide what to fix, and we delete them after 24 months.
Optional export feedback
After an export, the extension may show a link to an optional feedback form. It does not submit a result automatically. Opening the link sends only the extension version in its address; it does not attach your table, the source website address, file name or saved recipes.
When you press Send feedback on the website, we store the result and task you select, your optional comment, the extension version if provided, and the date. We do not store an email address, IP address or visitor identifier with the answer. Do not include private page links, personal information or table contents. We use these voluntary answers to improve the product and delete them after 24 months. They are reports of results, not counts of unique users or installations.
Website
- tidykit.app uses no cookies, advertising or third-party scripts.
- We count requests for the home, product and guide pages, links from the site to the Chrome Web Store, and openings of the welcome and uninstall pages. These counts can include repeat visits. Welcome page openings are a signal of possible installations, not a verified installation count.
- Each counter stores the hour, event category, source category, total count and time of the latest request. Source categories include Reddit, YouTube, AlternativeTo, SaaSHub, email, search, this site, direct and other. We determine the category from the referring domain or an allowed utm_source label in the current link or an internal referring link. We carry only that category through links on our site and to the Chrome Web Store. We do not use cookies or visitor IDs for this attribution. We do not store IP addresses, browser identifiers, full referring addresses, link parameters or browsing histories in these counters.
- We store counters in Cloudflare D1. Each week we delete counters older than 90 days. We send aggregate counts to the site operator through a private Telegram bot for notifications and daily reports. The reports contain no visitor identifiers.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data of each request, such as your IP address and browser type. Your IP address is also used for a short time to limit how often the survey form can be sent. We don't keep request logs. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Owner reporting: TidyKit Analytics
TidyKit Analytics is a reporting tool for the TidyKit operator. It uses read-only access to the operator's Google Analytics and YouTube accounts to retrieve aggregate event counts and channel statistics. It does not ask extension users to connect their Google accounts, and it does not read the tables they export.
The operator stores the access credentials and report snapshots on their computers. Aggregate figures are included in a daily PDF sent to the operator's private Telegram chat. Access can be revoked in the connected Google account. To request removal of stored reporting data or credentials, contact support@tidykit.app.
If you write to support@tidykit.app, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply to you. Mail to this address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox hosted by Google (Gmail). We delete your messages if you ask us to.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it by writing to support@tidykit.app. Survey answers are not linked to your identity, so to delete one we need its date and the text of your comment.
Children
Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the extension starts collecting any data, we will update this policy before that version is released. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
